Foremost on the minds of every home buyer is the question: "How much will the utilities cost for this home?". At Hensley Premier Builders, we have an answer. Our Energy Smart Program can reduce total energy usage by as much as 50% when compared to a home built to code minimums.

Over 60% of the gas and electric utility cost for a home in a Southern climate is related to operating heating and cooling equipment. That sounds like a mouthful, so simply put, over 60% of your utility bill is for air conditioning and heating of your home. We have taken many positive steps to reduce this cost. Among our standard features are:

• Radiant Barrier on the roof deck
• Foam Insulation in the walls and attic
• Envelop seal, including all wall penetrations and plates
• Low-E windows and doors
• High Efficiency HVAC systems
• Advanced framing techniques

The next largest source of utility expense is heating water, which can amount to as much as 15% of utility cost.. To address this issue, we have made use of:

• Tankless water heaters
• Hot water recirculation systems

Finally, we have taken steps to address lighting expense by incorporating many fixtures using high efficiency light bulbs such as CFLs (Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs) and LEDs, whch use approximately 1/5 the power of an incandescent light bulb. We also install only Energy Star rated appliances in our homes.
